6 Ways to Stay Motivated

Los Angeles, California

It is hard to get motivated, but it is even harder to stay motivated. Do you agree?

Ā

I have watched many YouTube videos and read many articles on Google in the hunt for finding a way to stay motivated. All of it made sense and got me started:

Ā

  • pick a goal
  • break it down
  • write it down
  • schedule your day
  • treat your self
  • be around people that motivate you
Ā
Ā Now, as promising and organized it sounds, it didnā€™t work for me. I, maybe, did all of that for about a week and then it all came to a pause, and it has been on a pause for the past 10 months.

Ā

They say ā€œgo 1 step at a timeā€ but how is that possible if I got many staircases to climbs?

Ā

Letā€™s get real ā€“ I am a brown girl and my goals are not the only priority. Family and culture also take a big role in my life that it becomes hard to focus in one direction. Growing up being the oldest, a lot of responsibilities and surprise errands come my way every day, therefore scheduling my day is completely out of the question. Writing them down? What, my goals? Sure; but they would probably be found in a scribbled journal or a note stuck on a wall which my eyes will just end up bypassing it. And I donā€™t understand the concept of treating yourself because I think I treat myself after every workout. (guilty, not guilty)Ā

I enjoy being around people and getting motivation from them would be ideal. However, I describe myself to be a quiet person when it comes to goals and responsibilities. I tend to not share it, which makes it harder for anyone to connect with me and vice versa. Yes, it does help to be around them, but then again I find myself always needing them to keep me motivated and that was not growing me from within.

Ā

ā€œThis is my battle and I need to fight it myself.ā€

Ā

I am not disagreeing with Google because it does provide actions to reach goals. However, I learned way later that it is more about being mentally prepared than anything. That when actions fail, the mind doesnā€™t.

Ā

  • Faith in yourself
  • Believe that your life has a path
  • Follow inspiration page that relate to you or your goals
  • Understand that not all days are good days
  • Have patience
  • Everything happens for a reason
Ā

Ā ā€œDonā€™t relay on others to motivate you, you are your biggest motivation. And itā€™s up to you to build and grow that motivation.ā€

Ā

The only person that can control faith in you, is simply you, so why not control it?Ā Life has brought you this far so why are you giving up on it now? Follow and listen to people who have gone through similar situations to give you an assurance that you are not alone. Every day is not a sunny day; rain brings nothing but a rainbow and lots of green growth. It is all about patience and thatā€™s the biggest thing you can possess. So enjoy the ride and remember that there is a reason behind everything, and I mean everything!
