Dear 31,

For the past 5 years, I was fortunate enough to celebrate each birth year with my family and friends. But this year I have decided to celebrate it with myself. First year of the 30s has been the best year thus far. I have learned and grown so much that I feel like a whole new person. My loved ones say “Girl, you are thriving!”

Looking back, I am pleased with the woman I have become and the progress I have achieved.I realize that I am living a life a lot of women wish they had lived. Moving out of my parents’ house wasn’t simple because of the way my society views it. A lot was said and a lot was thought amongst my people to another. Today, though, I let go of other people’s perspectives and my need to justify myself to those who wouldn’t get it. I was never a person that was scared to do something different. I like dreaming, I like wishing, l like making it happen.

Celebrating anything by your self is not seen as normal and rather seen as sad and lonely. To be honest, I felt completely opposite while doing so. ☺️

Enjoying my own company was my mission-it was a challenge but slowly overcame it and let me tell you, I feel fearless! I feel strong and self-assured.

I’m excited to see what the upcoming year holds for me. There is still so much to discover and develop. I am grateful for this voyage, but above all, I am grateful to my parents for believing in me and allowing me to go on my own. They have been my strongest supports, despite the fact that this was the hardest for them to accept and swallow. I understand that they have had a really tough time since they have faced criticism and heard unfavorable comments about their love for me. Still staying strong and caring about my growth and happiness is what makes me feel extremely fortunate.

Today was different, I was just happy and smiling while celebrating my birthday by myself. I have never felt so loved before-maybe because I have never loved myself this much before.

Thank you for all the calls and messages received today! I am grateful to have such people in my life.

Dear 31,

For the past 5 years, I was fortunate enough to celebrate each birth year with my family and friends. But this year I have decided to celebrate it with myself. First year of the 30s has been the best year thus far. I have learned and grown so much that I feel like a whole new person. My loved ones say “Girl, you are thriving!”
